by a chartered accountant and its documents are filed with the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency and Industry Canada.
MAM is an independent organization providing services conducted in accordance with the tenets and doctrines of the Islamic faith to the Muslims in Milton.
MAM is governed by an Executive Committee which itself is supported by 7 sub-committees. These sub-committees have well-defined functions and they have a lot of autonomy and decision-making powers (within reason and all under the umbrella of MAM) to carry out their prescribed duties. This organizational structure serves to make MAM better organized, efficient, and more active by increasing and varying the services offered to the community, thus solidifying MAM and enabling it to be a viable organization for Milton Muslims well into the future.
The sub-committees are as follows:
Event Planning Sub-Committee
This sub-committee will plan and organize MAM events as follows: determine the event and date, book the venue, create flyers/tickets and marketing material, arrange food, arrange presenters if needed, and setup the speakers/mic/seating/etc for the event. This sub-committee will require additional volunteers depending on the event; hence they will also
develop & maintain a list of volunteers. On-going events include the
Lectures & Seminars.
Children's Programs & Sisters' Programs
This sub-committee will provide and implement
children's Quran Classes, Girls Club, etc. They will focus on ensuring that children are advancing at a good pace in recitation of the Quran as this will distinguish us from the other organizations’ Islamic classes, which offer a fuller range of schooling system and not concentration on Quran recitation. This sub-committee will also provide and implement ladies classes in Tajweed, Quran Tafsir, and general seminars/presentations on
Islamic events. They will arrange speakers and venues as needed.
Musallah Sub-Committee
This sub-committee will establish
prayer timings at the Musallah (and update the website accordingly) and they will establish the start of
Ramadan, day of
Eid-ul-Fitr, and day of
Eid al Adha. They will determine a Mouzzin schedule for calling of Azan at the Musallah, they will maintain a cleaning schedule (assigning the cleaning duties to volunteers), they will identify general required maintenance of Musallah, and they will maintain a procedure for the use and upkeep of the parking lot. They will also count cash from the donation boxes.
Membership Sub-Committee
This sub-committee will be in charge of maintaining the
MAM membership roll and forms. Their main task will be to expand the membership; they will implement ways to get the membership information to people, to encourage them to join and to sign them up as new members. They will also help in re-signing existing members.
Communication Sub-Committee
This sub-committee will respond to community emails, publish a
monthly newsletter, send community emails (and maintain the email list), publish
PR material, publish a year-end magazine outlining MAM accomplishments for the year, and maintain the
MAM website. This sub-committee will need to work in conjunction with the other sub-committees so as to get those messages out to the public in a timely and effective manner.
Library Sub-Committee
This sub-committee maintains and operates the
library in the Musallah.
Event Booking Sub-Committee
This sub-committee will book rental of facilities for Juma, Ramadan, Eid, and all other MAM events. They will arrange the setup of the carpets for Juma/Ramadan/Eid prayers, establish the number of prayers and their timings, and book/confirm khateebs for those prayers. They will work in conjunction with the Musallah Sub-Committee.
The Directors of MAM are the Executive Managers to whom all sub-committees report, however each sub-committee will be responsible to do its work and to implement what it needs to. The ultimate goal of MAM is to establish and maintain a Masjid in Milton.
