Muslim Association of Milton restarted its lecture series on Sept 25 with a new series titled “Coffee with Sheikh Riad”. Insha’Allah these will be regular events based on the availability of Sheikh Riad Ouarzazi. In addition to this lecture series, we will Insha’Allah hold lectures/seminars lead by other prominent scholars.

Qari Imran Khan is a reciter of Qur’an. He has studied with various scholars and teachers around the world and he has lived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for 18 years. He has an Electronic Engineering diploma and a Bachelor of Technology from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. He currently lives in Dubai, UAE.

He studied under Sheikh Anmar Nassir who is a student of Sheikh Abdul Rahman Abdul Aziz Uyoon As Sood. He had the honor of working with Sheikh Syed Jibreel in Santa Clara Masjid(California) in the Darul Qur’an program for almost 2 years. He had the honor and pleasure of meeting and learning with Sheikh Ali Jaber (may Allah have his mercy on him), Previous Imam of Masjid-ul-Haram, Makkah.

While doing a short tour in Toronto, Qari Imran Khan offered his time to come to Milton for the families of our community.

Discovering the Quran

Dr. Ehsan Butt started the presentation by showing that the people during and before the Holy Prophet (SAW) were advanced technologically and in literature – the evidence of Arabic Nuqaat in use before Islam was discussed. He then discussed the two ways to benefit from Qur’an and concluded by Diving Deep in the Meanings of Bismillah. The following topics were covered:

How to Raise Your Parents

Sheikh Raid presented an interactive and thoughtful seminar on how to be the best kinds of parents in order to raise wonderful children. The seminar was about parenting and raising children with emphasis on Islamic guidance and etiquettes. The title of the seminar was deliberately chosen as “How to Raise Our Parents” to provoke us to realize that when we raise our children, our children are also “raising” us, i.e. children have rights and expectations on their parents and we need to be cognizant of those.
